Cooking with Saks Fifth Avenue & Jonathan Simkhai

I recently had the pleasure of joining a virtual cooking class with the designer, Jonathan Simkhai. We talked about what’s inspired him since being home and his new line, Standard. Standard is made from recycled jersey and organic cotton - these basics are perfect for effortless versatility and for the time we are currently living in.

Jonathan’s Chicken Sausage Orecchiette

Ingredients

1 box of Orecchiette (I subbed for 1 box of Jovial Gluten Free penne)

1 tablespoon of olive oil

2-4 cloves of sliced fresh garlic

1 small bunch of broccolini, chopped

2 links of Italian chicken sausage

1/2 cup of shredded parmesan cheese

Salt & Red Pepper flakes

Bring 2 pots of water to boil - 1 to cook the pasta and 1 to blanch the broccolini.

*to Blanch, boil the broccolini for 1 minute, strain and then put into a bowl of iced water

In a saucepan, saute sliced garlic (use as much as you prefer) in olive oil. Remove chicken sausage from the casing adding it to the saucepan and cook through. Once the sausage is cooked, add broccolini, some salt & crushed red pepper to taste. Add your cooked pasta & cheese to the saucepan and combine to marry all the ingredients. Serve immediately. Feel free to top your plate with a drizzle of olive oil, more cheese and/or crushed red pepper!

And don’t forget to visit Saks for the lates and greatest pieces from Jonathan Simkhai!

xx,
